Public bug reported:
I have a ASUS Eee 1015PE netbook. When I go to connect to my home WiFi,
it works fine and runs full-speed and all, but the Network Manager tray
applet says it isn't connected to anything (greyed out bars with the red
exclamation point). However, it only does it with this network. Also if
I right click it, it says under 'Wireless Networks,' 'Disconnect,' but
no SSID of the network I'm connected to above it. Otherwise, it's
functions fine, I can disconnect and reconnect without a problem, my WPA
key gets sent, the DHCP server in the router giver me a valid IP, etc.
The ethernet connection also works.
However, on any other network, NM reports the signal strength fine. I
know it has to do with NM, because I tried it with WiCD, and it did not
have this problem. The other networks I have tried were unsecured, WEP,
and WPA with TKIP encryption..
The router that seems to be causing the problem is a Linksys WRT160N.
The authentication I'm using is WPA, with AES encryption. The wireless
adapter in the netbook is a Broadcom 4313 2.4 GHz PCI card, and I'm
using the proprietary Broadcom driver, wl. The ISP is Comcast, with
their cable modem/VoIP module thing.
I haven't tried another network with AES encryption though, so I have a
hunch it's related to that.
If it means anything, the system detects the wireless card as eth1, not
wlan0.
To reiterate, when connected to this network, it actually works fine,
but NM doesn't report so. In fact, I am using the same connection to
report this bug.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04.1.
