A couple of things:
1. Please try updating your alsa drivers, as outlined here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules. Please report
back as to whether sound still cuts out for you.
2. If sound still cuts out for you, could you please obtain a log from
pulseaudio, as outlined here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log, so we can
try to get an idea of what is going on with the drop outs.
