Similar problem: I lost sound and the system reports 'sound card not detected' as soon as I upgraded the kernel from 2.6.32-23 to 2.6.32-24. On all earlier versions the sound card was automatically detected. This is on a Toshiba laptop running Ubuntu Lucid 10.4 with all available updates installed.
