*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 91414 *** I can confirm this using Compiz or Beryl on Ubuntu Feisty Beta.
As this was being discussed in #ubuntu-motu I mentioned that this happened to me when using Beryl and was asked to confirm if it happened in Compiz, and yes I can confirm that it does happen. When desktop effects are enabled, and switching to ctrl+alt+f1 the login prompt is shown, however, when I go to switch back to ctrl+alt+f7 I return to a blank black screen with a mouse cursor visible. I can move the mouse cursor and that's it, any attempts to return to a working visible desktop are futile, attempts to switch back to ctrl+alt+f1 gives me the black screen still. I am unable to do anything at this point and I have to hard reset my system. Linux leafy 2.6.20-13-generic #2 SMP Sun Mar 25 00:21:25 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux Nvidia driver version: 9631 I am using 9631 of the Nvidia drivers which I manually installed (and reinstall when updates necessitate it because my nvidia card is now a legacy one according to changes with 97xx, and the legacy driver version is much too old for my tastes (in the feisty repo) but that's another bug in progress. I just thought I'd explain the reason for me using 9631 of the nvidia driver as related to this report. -- Change user with compiz https://launchpad.net/bugs/95495 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
