Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gcc-4.1
Any attempt to compile an executable with gcc produces the error
message:
/usr/bin/ld: crt1.o: No such file: No such file or directory
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
I'm running the amd64 build of Ubuntu 6.10. The gcc and ld version
included with the installation image is:
gcc (GCC) 4.1.2 20060928 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.1-13ubuntu5)
GNU ld version 2.17 Debian GNU/Linux
I suspect this is some kind of search path problem, but I'm not aware of
having changed any relevant environment variables.
