I tried what you proposed but it did not bring any changes with the
problem. I would still guess that the problem might be caused by the
slow hardware and the slow network connection which lets the sync-daemon
run into a timeout.
On all other computers that I use, the ubuntuone-client runs without any
problems and the main difference is that these computers have much
faster hardware and most of them a faster network connection too.

After the most recent crash I let the computer send a bugreport again.
It is the Bug #637775, maybe you can find helpful information in this
report.

BTW: It was a nice and surprising experience to me to be contacted
directly by the developers. I never had that with any other operating
system I used and even the helpdesk of the company I work for does not
have such a high level of service.
