Opening Ubuntu Software Center temporarily is not an appropriate way to
display installation progress of things like codecs, plug-ins, and so
on. USC's window is very big, it has lots of clickable elements, it has
a close button, and so on. The appropriate interface for installing a
codec would be *something like* a small progress window, with a "Cancel"
button but nothing else clickable. ubufox has the same requirement (bug
634915), so maybe it should be part of aptdaemon.
The claim that "There is another synaptic running" is bug 74134.
