Could you be hitting an issue with how VMWare handles or manages USB
devices, such as how a device may have been set to be passed on to a
guest?
To clarify things, are you testing this with two separate machines, one
Lucid and once Maverick, or with both different versions as guests of
the same workstation running VMWare?
