** Attachment added: "aplay" http://librarian.launchpad.net/7096953/aplay
** Description changed: *Steps to reproduce 1. Install "Desktop" version of Ubuntu (Gnome) Edgy 6.10. 2. Preform after-install updates using the built-in Gnome update notification. 3. Boot into the 2.6.17-11 kernel after the updates update from 2.6.17-10. 4. Audio no longer works. *Notes 1. I made no advanced changes other than running the initial updates. 2. I'm using a Creative Labs Live 24-bit internal PCI soundcard. Another unused soundcard is onboard, but I do not have the information on it other than it's a SoundMAX brand and my motherboard is an ASUS A7V600. 3. Choosing the old 2.6.17-10 selection in the Grub boot menu results in the sound working like normal. - - *Troubleshooting Information - Below is the result of using the 'aplay -l' command: - - **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** - card 0: V8237 [VIA 8237], device 0: VIA 8237 [VIA 8237] - Subdevices: 4/4 - Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 - Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 - Subdevice #2: subdevice #2 - Subdevice #3: subdevice #3 - card 0: V8237 [VIA 8237], device 1: VIA 8237 [VIA 8237] - Subdevices: 1/1 - Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 - card 1: CA0106 [CA0106], device 0: ca0106 [CA0106] - Subdevices: 1/1 - Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 - card 1: CA0106 [CA0106], device 1: ca0106 [CA0106] - Subdevices: 1/1 - Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 - card 1: CA0106 [CA0106], device 2: ca0106 [CA0106] - Subdevices: 1/1 - Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 - card 1: CA0106 [CA0106], device 3: ca0106 [CA0106] - Subdevices: 1/1 - Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 -- Updating from 2.6.17-10 to 2.6.17-11 results in no audio https://launchpad.net/bugs/99235 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
