Thanks for your report. When I do the same on Feisty (kubuntu), resapplet adds
a small icon to the panel. It's pretty easy to miss.
If you aren't even getting an icon appear in the panel, please could you try
the following:
1) start the program from the command-line (type 'resapplet' into a terminal.
If you see any messages, add them as a comment to this bug report
2) after starting resapplet, type into a terminal
ps aux | grep resapplet
Again, paste the results into this bug report.
