Wow!Even i got my hdd workin properly.
Steps Followed:
1.Setting  BIOS to factory defaults
2.changing hda->sda in /boot/grub/device.map
3.update-initramfs -u
4.grub-install /dev/sda

After all this; i shutdown the computer and remove the power cable
from the HDD.
Wait for some 30 secs,then restart the computer and Voila! everything
works like it should.
Also like Henrik mentioned i had some error messages from Grub(i have
turned on debug in grub) and now there are no error's,which makes me
believe that some register settings got screwed up and even a RESET
wasn't helping matters.A cold boot and above changes some how brought
back sanity.
Thanks Henrik and Ben :)
