This is probably a dupe of bug 445889. Installing test package http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa- intel-hda-optiplex-dkms_1.0.23_all.deb solves the problem more permanently between reboots (but it apparently requires reinstalling after each kernel update).
