it has been a while since i last used my webcam on ubuntu... i never did get around to getting the debugging set up. i did not have time. the last time i tried, it worked in vlc but i didn't live vlc's layout... no change with cheese... i folded and used my spare imac g5 to get my youtube soldering tutorials done.
