I have the same problem on a HP Z800 workstation. With the same error in ubuntu 10.04 and ubuntu 9.04, i installed ubuntu 8.04.3 and tried network update to 10.04. Update finished successfully but i cannot start linux anymore. I will be grateful for any pointers.
