Public bug reported:

Sometimes, when I login the computer will only show the wallpaper and the mouse
arrow (which I can move around) nothing else.
I have to go to the terminal (tty1) do a:
  sudo killall Xorg
and then log back in as Safe Mode. Then to have internet I launch nm-applet.
I don't know how to reproduce.
I have Ubuntu Maverick for test, and it has happened since day one.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
