I'm not an expert on this by any means but I think that the people in this discussion have confused the OtherOS installer (used by the PS3 Game OS and not open source) with the otheros.bld file which is open source. If you look on the Gentoo minimal CD for the PS3, they have 3 otheros.bld files that they have built. Each of their images behave in a slightly different manner, such as one which ignores the kboot.conf file on the hdd and only boots from CDs for troubleshooting.
To my limited understanding, the otheros.bld file is an image that contains the kernel used to make the kboot enviroment. Further, I believe that as of PS3 firmware 1.6, the OtherOS installer is no longer used by the PS3 and is now included by default. -- PS3 Live CD doesn't have otheros included https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99679 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
