@pauls I left the button detection that was used in Lucid untouched in the patch. Basically, it disables the bottom button area of the touchpad to use for buttons. This was done so that the mouse cursor doesn't bounce around the screen when you press a button. Unfortunately, this is the same region that is used for horizontal scrolling. I attached a quick and dirty patch that will only disable the button region of the touchpad when the your finger pressure is greater than 77. However, this number will probably not work for everybody because the z value is different for different people. You can use "synclient -m 100" to find a value that will work for you. I think that there are much better ways of doing this, but it should be done in xorg-input-synaptics.
