I'm marking this as invalid.  Without logs, there's simply no way we can
debug this issue any further.  Given what you've already said, I suspect
the issue was actually a hardware fault or a bad CD burn.  Do be sure to
check that the ISO you downloaded did so correctly by following the
steps in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM .  Equally, you
can check that the contents of the CD are valid by pressing a key when
you see the keyboard icon at CD boot, then selecting the "check CD for
defects" option.
