Yes that could be related, in fact I originally thought the error was
related to the no textures found message as it segfaulted directly
after. Performing:

apt-file search Vera.ttf

does not list any package in 10.10 that contains Vera.ttf in the
default location of the projectM config.

If its relevant, I am using a custom build of projectM based on svn's
projectM-test code
