@Omer that's the point. If you go to the tweet itself - it's fine. URL is passed through bit.ly. Something unwraps the url, making it longer and more safe (as you can see where it leads), but also preventing it from being navigable.
Same also happens say if we have url like http://really.long.address.com /article-about-polar-bears-in-jungle.html and it gets display truncated to http://really.long.address.com/article-about-polar for instance, you can still click on it in gwibber interface and not reach the actual URL.
