I am currently running a Gateway NV52 and Ubuntu 10.10 Meerkat Beta and my internal mic also does not work. I just recently installed this version through a complete wipe from my previous dual boot between Vista and 10.04 and even then my mic gave me many problems. While I was in 10.04, it initially worked for awhile and then randomly one day stopped and I couldn't figure out what to do. Now that I'm all Linux and this is my only option, it has become a bigger problem than before whereas I could just switch back to Windows. I've completely uninstalled Pulse Audio (as far as I can tell) and gone over to ALSA. I messed around with the mixer a bit and the options. In previous threads that told me to change some indicated options such as Capture and what not, I realized that I don't have some of these options in my mixer and I'm not sure how to get them. Could someone help me as well as I'm a big VoIP user and this isn't exactly convenient... ???
