Public bug reported: This bug affects the distribution upgrade on Ubuntu 10.04 (UNE) to 10.10 beta (UNE) with Unity.
The procedure described in the test case (http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Testing/Cases/DesktopUpgrade) was followed on an up-to-date installation of Ubuntu 10.04 UNE. The process proceeded as expected through the following steps: - Preparing to upgrade - Setting new software channels - Getting new packages update-manager failed during the "Installing the upgrades" phase shortly after being prompted about replacing a custom GRUB2 theme. Window borders disappeared and GNOME was unresponsive. After a period of inactivity (around 2 hours) the system was restarted by pressing the power button and selecting restart. After restarting the upgrade did not continue and it was not possible to login using the GUI (missing icons, options and user information.) Login was possible through the console. >From the console, the following instruction was executed and the upgrade completed in 10-20 minutes: sudo dpkg -configure -a Once completed, the netbook was restarted. The upgrade to 10.10 beta was completed. However, it was evident that package netbook-launcher had not been removed and was running alongside Unity. I'm including the logs under /var/log/dist-upgrade/. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- update-manager fails during distribution upgrade to 10.10 beta https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/648776 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
