Checking the src/radeon_driver.c and src/radeon_dri.c did not confirm my
suspicions. On the contrary, AFAICT, fast writes are always off (not
just by default, and whatever xorg.conf says) because of patch
102_radeon_fix_agp_fastwrite.diff. However, it seems that the default is
off (without this patch) so I suggest dropping the patch. It was
relevant in the older versions, where the driver would read the setting
from the BIOS and use that as a default (unless xorg.conf said
differently), but nowadays the driver just uses its own default (off).

Since my own experience from my previous comment contradicts my analysis
of the source code, it would be good if someone else would check as well
:)
