Looks like this one is fixed.
Tested in today's daily development version (10.10):
- Banshee is able to remove the device properly while still charging it.
- Nautilus option "Eject" is able to remove the device properly while still
charging it.
- Nautilus option "Safely remove" cuts power to the device.
