Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity
I've tried to install 10.10 (64-bit) daily (25/09/10) on my external harddrive. steps i did to install: i choose manual partitioning the partition was already made from an earier attemt to install. so i choose: does not unmount and only clear the partition. I did this so the partition table doesn't change. (in my earlier attemt i did choose unmount and made the partition, i tought the problem came for that) installation finished with no errors. But when i tried to boot i got: error no such partition grub rescue so i booted with my internal hdd (lucid) and reinstalled grub. but same effect. I have also lucid on my external hdd. so i booted with my internal hdd (lucid) and reinstalled grub but now pointed to my lucid partition. now i got my grub back and i am able to boot to the lucid on my external hdd. There is also a entery to the maverick kernel but as i choose this one i get: unknown filesystem unable to find kernel (or something) the maverick partition is formated in ext4. i can acces the partion from lucid so i don't think there is something wrong with it. maybe this bug is related: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/629519 tonight i will look at /etc/mtab of the maverick install ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [regression] 10.10 does not install on external harddisk https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/651926 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
