Hi,

It's not a big issue. It just struck me that the installer could ping an
ubuntu server. If it failed, it could ask for a proxy configuration; if
it succeeded, no proxy would be needed.

On slow connections, having interruptions for unnecessary questions
makes the installation process more annoying and time consuming. In line
with no-questions-asked package installation, the installer should also
minimise questions.
