Is it supposed to KMS should help to identify the native resolution of LCD? Is it supposed to set the resolution from SystemSettings then it must be remembered in next login without any xorg.conf configuration? If so, this bug still happens in Kubuntu Maverick RC 10.10 to date. The native LCD resolution is not detected, and screen resolution settings are not restored when you re-login.
