mount
and the contents of /etc/fstab and /etc/mtab.

The directories that are the anchor for the mounts exists even if the
mount is not active. They are empty. The active mount gives them
contents. It is likely your mount is not in the fstab file and therefore
your ntfs partition is not automatically mounted at startup.
