Binary package hint: software-center

The Authenticate dialog hangs for a long time with no indication that
anything is happening.  The dialog is misleading as it pops up after I
have entered my password but states, "To install or remove software, you
need to authenticate."  Entering my password authenticates my identity.
So, I have already authenticated...  Screenshot attached.
