Binary package hint: cups
I have 2 Ubuntu Maverick laptops. Laptop-1 has a Samsung printer
connected through USB. Laptop-1 allows sharing of this printer. On
Laptop-2 I can ping my other laptop using its name:
$ ping Laptop-1.local
PING Laptop-1.local (192.168.1.37) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from Laptop-1.local (192.168.1.37): icmp_req=1 ttl=64 time=65.1 ms
So avahi seems to work correctly on both machines. However, I can't
print to the Samsung printer using this URI:
ipp://Laptop-1.local:631/printers/Samsung-CLX-216x-Series
CUPS doesn't seem to find the printer. Using the IP address work
perfectly:
ipp://192.168.1.37:631/printers/Samsung-CLX-216x-Series
cupsd is linked to avahi libraries so it is maybe a configuration
problem on my side:
$ ldd /usr/sbin/cupsd | grep avahi
