I'm also seeing this a lot. I use the ATI driver and run full screen gnome-terminal sessions, all running screen. I switch between virtual desktops a lot and it only happens when I switch and will go away on a redraw (i.e. pressing ctrl-l in the terminal).
I'm attaching a screenshot that shows an example of the corruption I get. The actual window is a dselect session, so it's the whole lower half of the screen which is corrupt.
