Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

After a reboot, the Unity interface refuses to load, and a dialog
appears, saying it could not find the necessary drivers for loading
Unity. Then, it falls back to the Login screen, and I can only login on
the default Ubuntu Desktop session.
