Would you folks mind testing the following:
1) Make sure you don't have upgraded your alsa drivers, if you have, please
uninstall them first.
2) Download and install
http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa-intel-hda-diwic-via-automute-dkms_1.0.23.diwic_all.deb
3) Reboot
Does this make a difference?
