Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

doing a system upgrade, an error popped up and asked me to post all
files in /var/log/dist-upgrade

it then said that my system has been left in an unstable state, and that
it was going to run a command ( i'm pretty sure it was dpkg --configure
-all )

that ran for a short while before locking up. no cpu or disk activity for a few
minutes.
force closing it and attempting to run said command on a terminal gave me
database area is locked by another process.

i'm posting this before i restart kde in hopes that will unlock the
database area.

i can only attach one file at the moment, so i've chosen main.log until
i can post the rest later.

** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
