Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: 915resolution
I have a Dell using the Intel 845G (configured with between 64 and
128MB) of shared memory) running Feisty Beta.
I have successfully replaced mode 38 with 1440x900 using various
invocations of 915resolution-0.5.2-10 such as:
915resolution 38 1440 900 32 1904 934
Have the corresponding modeline in xorg.conf.
Both GDM and X start with the same weirdness. Firstly the bottom
(approx.) 200px go ubuntu brown and cover anything that moves down
"under" that strip, like an envelope. The rightmost (approx.) 200 pixels
are also unusable, but they distort everything that is placed there.
Otherwise the resolution is correct, looks crisp, is definitely running
at 1440x900, just not on the whole display.
I can find no errors, and replacing different modes (other than 38)
works even less (doesn't even set the res at 1440x900).
I find it unusual that the bug appears in both GDM (login screen) and X,
and the fact that most of the screen is perfect. I have tried earlier
versions of 915resolution but with the same effect. The faulty areas are
coloured in "Ubuntu Brown" and appear to be a repeated single line of
pixels.
** Affects: 915resolution (Ubuntu)
