Please add the Ubuntu Audio Dev PPA as a software source,
http://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio-dev/+archive, and install the linux-
alsa-driver-modules-2.6.35-22-generic package. Reboot, and please test
the speakers again. Please report back with your findings.
