Public bug reported:
This occurs in the live installers for both maverick beta, and the
October 5 maverick daily. During the install process, especially during
the entirety of the mkfs.ext4 run, and some of the file copy, the
interface is very laggy. Observe how clicking your location for time
zone setting takes many seconds to take effect.
