Thanks, I installed the update as you mentioned, until there was no progress. Then I rebooted the computer, and still there was the same problem.After which I unistalled this recently installed update from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules - Iand rebooted again and the miracle happened. There was sound in my Sony VAIO. Thanks you so much.
