I have several machines, one of them on Maverick and the others on
Lucid. All of them have the same problem. I can install the drivers, but
as soon as I run the update it wants to remove them because the
dependencies are not met.

What information is required to allow developers to do something about
this? I'm happy to test some things and/or provide information.
Personally I would have thought that a dummy package called libcupsys2
would be the answer. Then the apt-get, dpkg or whatever update manager
we used will not try and uninstall the canon printer drivers.
