Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gwibber
With the current "auto" shortening system the lag time between pasting
and shortening often give the impression that something has broken, and
attempts to re-paste the URL may happen which will only increase lag.
Additionally, having it be an optional button (or checkbox) available
during post times would allow you to post a URL that you don't
necessarily want shortened--because the URL itself is the tweet or has
meaning.
I've also (due to the lag) posted tweets with the "keyboard" glyph in
the tweet rather than the URL--this should at the very least be
prevented, though there may be times when people want to post that
glyph.
Thanks for considering this change.
