I used a wired internet connection, it is up and running and detected during the installation. I've tried a fresh installation from the LiveCD and a Wubi installation on a French W7 and both installation show the same behaviour. The first installation screen is in french, 'Français' is preselected on the left list and I clicked on 'Installer Ubuntu'.
