I installed Ubuntu 10.04.1 on a 64-bit machine. There is a fake-raid configuration on my machine. All went well until I tried to update my system. I run into the following error: "kernel panic unable to mount root fs on unknown-block". Nothing helped but re-installing my system. After re-installation and update my system again I got "udevadm trigger is not permitted while udev is unconfigured" and I found this thread. Thx for the solution (update-initramfs -u -k all fixed it)! btw: If you were on Windows and it would crash your whole system after a regular update, what would you say ...?
