Same problem here. Ubuntu 10.10 RC. I have USA and Persian keyboard layouts. I filed a bug here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/656988 because I was not sure it's a duplicate of this bug. My friends using Arch and Gentoo are also reporting similar problems, so the problem might not be distro-specific. Some people told me this bug has been fixed in Xorg 1.9.2. Anyway this is a very annoying bug which could prevent many users from using ubuntu 10.10 at all.
