install dconf-tools from terminal, then type dconf-editor there in
apps/empathy untick 'use-conn' check if that might help.

are you not able to connect to any protocol from wireless internet? in
that case can you please attach empathy logs from Help>debug there
select empathy(if its not already selected) and click save and attach
the logs file here.
