Public bug reported: NOTE: I couldn't submit this report without providing a package name (because the "I don't know" option I was directed to use was not actually accepted!), so I just picked aboot randomly. Please fix this problem!
After answering some preliminary questions, I left my Ubuntu 10.10 desktop installation running overnight. This morning, at the bottom of the Time Zone selection screen, there was a message saying "Ready when You Are", which I took as an indication that it knew I hadn't pressed any keys for hours. I entered my Time Zone info, and it chugged away for a while, before displaying the Installer Crashed screen directing me to provide two logfiles. The machine then froze up, preventing me from obtaining the logfiles. In two earlier installation attempts, while the installer was running on console 7, the machine froze up after I used <CTL><ALT><F1> to switch to another console (which displayed a sort of scrambled "test pattern") . For what it's worth, this laptop had been running Ubuntu 9.04 happily for over a year! ** Affects: aboot-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: 10.10 crashes installer ubuntu -- Ubuntu 10.10 Installer crashed on IBM T23 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658485 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
