I was trying to install libvisual to use the visualisations in Amarok but
couldn't find how to so I discovered a newer version (1.3.9 -> 1.4.3) that had
the libvisual compiled in it already but it wouldn't upgrade so I tried to
remove Amarok 1.3.9 with Adept and completely install anew but neither Adept
nor Synaptic will install any version and I get the following message via the
Konsole on apt-get install Amarok
screen output starts....
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies.
amarok: Depends: libifp4 but it is not installable
Depends: libvisual-0.4-0 (>= 0.4.0) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
.....screen output ends.
It also doesn't show up as "Broken" in the GUI of synaptic.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of a "cure"?
