Ah, hold on -- I see what the 'fix' was. The black-screen bug was put into the release notes by Robbie, which doesn't fix the bug, but does at least have it documented for Maverick. This is consistent with Andy's comments.
This bug will need to be moved to Natty Narwhal (11.04). If a kernel fix is found, it can be back-ported to Maverick and included during a normal kernel update. It's important to note this problem has been with us since Lucid, and a kernel fix may be available in the wild. The underlying issue is the detection of the main screen (LCD device tags). One of the relevant patches was submitte by Alex Deucher, and he's continuing the work to fix the support for different kinds of panels/connections in the radeon code (e.g): Gitweb: http://git.kernel.org/linus/9f998ad7e92a1653b6b396b1278e75560a8be519 Commit: 9f998ad7e92a1653b6b396b1278e75560a8be519 Parent: 7f768957f407f7b8c8793eedaf7512049d092f29 Author: Alex Deucher <alexdeucher <at> gmail.com> AuthorDate: Mon Mar 29 21:37:08 2010 -0400 Committer: Dave Airlie <airlied <at> redhat.com> CommitDate: Wed Mar 31 13:13:16 2010 +1000 There are patches all the way up to 10/04 currently in the LKML... -- New Apple iMac (Core i5) fails to display anything https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/542660 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
