I'm affected by this bug too. I'm using Sony model vpcs11c5e. With 10.04 everything was good. After the update to 10.10 the microphone is broken.
After the update i see in /var/log/messages : Oct 12 19:22:26 laptop pulseaudio[2242]: ratelimit.c: 1110 events suppressed Oct 12 19:22:31 laptop pulseaudio[2242]: ratelimit.c: 1614 events suppressed Oct 12 19:22:36 laptop pulseaudio[2242]: ratelimit.c: 1158 events suppressed Oct 12 19:22:41 laptop pulseaudio[2242]: ratelimit.c: 1538 events suppressed Oct 12 19:22:46 laptop pulseaudio[2242]: ratelimit.c: 1337 events suppressed Oct 12 19:22:51 laptop pulseaudio[2242]: ratelimit.c: 1720 events suppressed Oct 12 19:22:56 laptop pulseaudio[2242]: ratelimit.c: 1298 events suppressed Oct 12 19:23:07 laptop kernel: [ 1922.770091] intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: MCP power or thermal limit exceeded Oct 12 19:23:37 laptop kernel: [ 1952.716349] intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: MCP power or thermal limit exceeded Oct 12 19:23:42 laptop kernel: [ 1957.707513] intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: MCP power or thermal limit exceeded Oct 12 19:24:57 laptop kernel: [ 2032.594874] intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: MCP power or thermal limit exceeded I added snd-hda-intel model=laptop-amic to alsa-base.conf. After that the external mic. works. "events suppressed" and "MCP power or thermal limit exceeded" messages are still there. -- Sony Vaio built in Microphone and mic in does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/641640 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
