I'm sorry, but in panic I used the procedure I described in the bug report to
resolve the problem before filing the report. I suspect the output of sudo
apt-get update > ~/Desktop/Update-File will not be useful?

Binary package hint: update-manager
This error occurred while upgrading Lucid to Maverick, at the stage 'Setting
new
software channels'. Manually installing/upgrading the package from Maverick
repository while the upgrade is frozen at this stage allows the upgrade to
proceed beyond here.
