warcry glad it work for you it is a pain but least we've got round it. Given we've changed the NVidia closed source drivers I'm not sure it's really something ubuntu can fix, aside from providing older drivers by default.
I can't find a definitive answer on the NVidia site about whether the 260.xx drivers are compatible with the 8300gs, they offer the 253.xx drivers when you go through the 'download drivers' link on the site but the 'archived and beta' ones list the 260.xx as available, very confusing, though the 260 on the NVidia site is 260.19.12 and the one in the repo's is 260.19.06. Not tried the 260.19.12 ones so don't know if they work ok, from the changes listed against those drivers: 'Added support for configuring the dithering depth used when driving a flat panel with a GeForce 8 family' implies it *should* work with the 8300. -- nvidia driver does not work in maverick on GeForce 8300 GS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/657763 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
